Chrome Audi R8 Spyder twins raise $1 million for AIDS charity
Your NJ Audi dealer is very pleased to announce that the two 'chrome-finish' Audi R8 Spyders that were donated by Audi raised close to one million dollars for John Elton's AIDS foundation. The two donated Audis were equipped with new features for the special occasion. Keep reading to read all the details of the auction.
UK has been a contributor to the Elton John AIDS Foundation for eight years, and for the 2011 White Tie and Tiara Ball, the company didn’t disappoint, offering a chrome Audi R8 Spyder for auction.
But when that car grabbed £250,000 at the hammer, the company stepped up and threw a second chrome A8 Spyder into the ring, which subsequently sold for a similar amount--and it was then redonated and resold.
By the time the bidding frenzy was over, a total of £620,000 had been raised from both cars for the event. That’s just less than $1 million for those keeping score at home.
Who said charitable donations were down in this struggling economy?

Guests at this year's White Tie and Tiara Ball, which as always takes place at the home of Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish, will need to empty their jewellery boxes to avoid being outshone by the very special R8 sports car donated by Audi for the star-studded event. A dazzling and unique mirror-like chromed finish has been applied to the 194mph open-top sports car especially for the occasion - which takes place on Thursday June 23rd - to attract the highest possible bids in the auction that raises hundreds of thousands of pounds for the Elton John Aids Foundation (EJAF) annually.
